Metallurgical phase transformations using the Heat Transfer Module

We are working on the modelling of the solid-state phase transformations in steels induced by laser radiation.
We would like to compare the results of different models such as Leblond, Johnson-Mehl-Avrami, etc.
To begin with, we tried to implement a model using the heat transfer module coupled with a general form PDE, but unfortunately we are getting unrealistic results, like phase fractions greater than one. Maybe you can offer some advice as to how to do this coupling with the heat transfer equation? PDE general form? PDE coefficient form? ODE? We would be really grateful!
Thanks!!
