Body fixed coordinate system

Hi

I have a question on how to create a body fixed coordinate system. I am performing a simulation with a rotating magnet. At this point a implemented the magnets magnetisation using the global coordinate system... But I need an axial magnetisation, therefore the magnetisation axis should rotate according to the magnet rotation.

Thank you in advance Michael

Hi Michael,

If you use the "Rotating Machinery, Magnetic (rmm)" physics interface in AC/DC Module, it will be very easy and automatic to apply the radial or axial magnetization as done in the following examples. I would suggest you to take a look and apply the same method in your modeling needs. 1. https://www.comsol.com/model/generator-in-2d-2122 2. https://www.comsol.com/model/electrodynamic-wheel-magnetic-levitation-in-2d-44871

Hi Nirmal

Thanks for your fast response. Sorry, I may have explained my situation a little bit too simplified... I have a flexible catheter with a magnet on it's tip. I'm trying to simulate the behaviour/deformations of this catheter when a magnetic field is applyed. Based on my knowlege the tip of the catheter should be displaced and rotated in order to align with the magnetic field... So far I used a combination on magnetic fields, no currents and solid mechanics... But, as said, i'm not able to model an axial magnetisation. As it is not a simple ratation I can't use a cylindrical coordinate system with fixed origin. I was not able to find how to fix a coordinate axis to a body axis.

Best Michael
