steady state converges, transient study doesn't converge

Hello all, I am trying to solve a coupled laminar flow heat transfer phase change problem. The solution for the steady state study converges, but for the time dependant study, the solution doesn't converge at all. It gives the error "Highest possilbe number of Newton's iterations reached" or "singularity in matrix". All the boundary conditions are the same and they don't change. Has any one faced the similar problem. Please help me in resolving this issue
