TEC Modeling

Hello,

I have a TEC1-12706 peltier that has a max current rating of 6A (12V). It has 127 thermocouple pairs (connected in series electrically and parallel thermally). I was wondering how to model this plate on comsol?

I have already constructed the geometry with the appropriate material. I know I need to specify certain conditions in Electric Currents module. I have tried specifying the electrical potential at one end as 12V and have the ground at the other end. This did not converge.

Any suggestion helps! Thanks!

Go to File > Licensed and Used Products, and check if your license includes the "Heat Transfer Module". That product has a ready-made interface for the thermoelectric effect.

This video covers it: https://www.comsol.com/video/simulate-thermoelectric-devices-tecs

See also this blog: https://www.comsol.com/blogs/how-to-analyze-thermoelectric-cooler-designs-with-a-comsol-app/

Finally, here is a basic tutorial: https://www.comsol.com/model/thermoelectric-leg-16365

Best,

Jeff
