Material properties- dependant to temperature history

Hi. I am doing a normal heat transfer problem . my problem is if temperature gets above a specific value,I want to use a new material properties. The issue is I want to use the new properties even if temperature is reduced later in simulation, so I can not choose material properties only a function of temperature,. I want it to be a function of temperature history.

I think ofdefining a step function which once temperature is above a specific temperature, it takes the value one. then value of the step function stays one, even if the temperature reduces below the target temperature.

Does any one have an idea how should I do it? Sepideh

Hi, this sounds like irreversible phase change. There is a tutorial here: https://www.comsol.com/model/heat-transfer-modeling-in-cellulosic-material-oxidation-48681

Kind regards Niklas Rom
