Strange boundary condition

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I am seeing some strange behavior when assigning some boundary conditions in Structural Mechanics of V4.2.
For example, I assign a Roller boundary to the inner surface of a tube that has been cut to half axially (I am having a 2D Cylindrical problem), trying to to stretch its rubber-like material circumferentially (i.e. I want no change in radius). However, I notice that with one end of the geometry being stretched, the radius changes as well and completely ignores the Roller condition that should enforce the displacements normal to the surface zero.

Can anyone explain this?

Thanks,
Jessica
