Vibration of a 3D fixed-fixed string

When I do the eigenfrequency study for the string, all I get are axial modes and not transverse modes. Could someone tell me why it is happening? I ticked the box to include geometric nonlinearities.

While I understand that it is a 2d problem, this is my starting point for modeling a tritare or an N string tyupe structure which will have motion in 3 dimensions. I matched my model with study 1 of vibrating string example available online.

Any help is appreciated

Hi,

You have a Straight Edge Constraint in the model which does its job: Keeping the edge straight.

Just disable it, and you get transversal modes.

Regards,
Henrik
