Update solution after extension of time

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

If I leave my entire model identical, but change the time dependent solver to run to a longer time (same initial time, same time step) and then hit "Update Solution", how can I make COMSOL use the existing solution up to the previous maximum time, and only calculate the times after this? From the "Progress" tab it appears to be calculating the entire solution again.

Thanks for any help,
Andrew

Hi

"update solution" will add any new Definitions nodes into an existing solution, or if you have changed anything in the solver settings, it will redo the full simulation.

The best is to add a second time series and set it up to use the previous one as initial values, but check what the Default solver sequence looks like first, and that you have a stored solution in between.

If you prepare two time seriessolver step in the same study, normally the default sovler sequence will set these two in series

Good luck

Dear Ivar, I don't have the reference manual. I changed the mesh only of my simulation ( after running first study) and I am thinking what best to do update or compute again. Compute gives error.
