Porosity model in Porous Media Flow

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Good morning,

I am working on creating a simulation of air flow through a metallic sponge to see its performance as a possible passive air heat dissipator. In my first approach, I used the Free and Porous Media Flow and noticed that only requires the Porosity and the Permeability of the sponge material for the calculations. This left me wondering which model of open porosity it uses to model the behaviour of the porous structure with a discrete medium, and how it could be tuned to futher reflect the real properties of the metallic sponges.

Thanks for the help!
