Flow dependence on coordinate system?

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

I am working on modeling fluid structure interaction, and I have found that the flow changes whenever I move my model to a different location on the coordinate system. I literally selected everything and just moved it (nothing in my actual model changed) - so there seems to be a dependence upon the r-axis. Any ideas how to overcome this? Thanks!

Hi Kim,

I assume you do not have any term (body force, buoyancy,etc...) which depends on coordinate system.
So, the dependence is due to the mesh, which is the only thing that changes while you "move" your models.

Try to work with a simpler model using structured grid. Moving this model keeping exactly the same mesh your results won't change. If they do, than my first assumption is wrong ;-)

Hope it helps,
Mattia
