Particle Release Time vs Data Set time. Please explain the difference.?

So I have a solid cylinder in which concentration varies according to time. I want to trace the path of a particle from point A to point B inside the cylinder block according to concentration gradient. Essentially the particle is supposed to travel the path with largest concentration gradient vector.

Now lets say I want to see the trajectory of particle at time 2000s. Now what am I supposed to do with the release time?

Am I missing something? I am sure its basic but I have been sitting here all day and my brain has stopped functioning now haha.

I'd really appreciate if someone could explain this.

OHH and this the basic particle tracing in postprocessing. I do not have the specialized module.

Lokesh
