Gas Flow: Dealing with discontinuity between parts

Hello:

I am trying to determine air flow pattern between prarallel plates in multi-component device where selected parts of the geometry are not physically connected. How do I make comsol recognize that although the parts are physically disconnected, gas will flow between the parts?
