How is Thin Thermally Resistant Layer calculated?

Hi, I'm trying to set up a problem which includes a "Thin thermally Resistive Layer" pair. The documentation does not address how exactly this calculation is preformed, especially in the event of a temperature dependent thermal conductivity. Does anyone know how it is preformed?
I've actually got the pair working for the moment, but I would like to understand exactly what equations it is solving so that I know the limits of my model. I would also like to know because it might help me add some of the other thermal conductivity effects I have in mind for my model.
I checked all the documentation by doing a text search and no theory shows up. Anyone know the equations or can direct me to a reference?
