Introduction to the Battery Design Module
Get an introduction to the Battery Design Module, an add-on product to COMSOL Multiphysics®, in this archived presentation from COMSOL Day: Batteries & Fuel Cells. In the presentation, you will see the features and functionality available in terms of battery chemistries, model types, and scales.
As you will see, the software includes predefined electrochemistry for all major battery chemistries to model batteries such as lithium-ion (Li-ion), vanadium redox flow, lead–acid, and more, as well as functionality to define any chemistry using Nernst–Planck and Butler–Volmer kinetics. We also cover the many different types of models that can be built, from equivalent circuits to detailed 3D models, and discuss modeling of the microscale, cell scale, and pack scale.
