Structural Mechanics: A Linear Buckling Analysis
Duration: 2:19
Linear buckling is an important study type, available with the Structural Mechanics Module. A linear buckling analysis estimates the critical load that can cause a sudden collapse of a structure. This video shows you how to perform such an analysis, with a static analysis of a unit load and computation of an eigenvalue problem. COMSOL runs both these steps automatically, and returns the value of the critical buckling load, which corresponds to the first eigenvalue.
The model shown here is an extension of the introductory bracket model, outlined in the Structural Mechanics: Static Linear Analysis video tutorial.
