Traditional loudspeaker development involves a lot of prototyping and lab tests, which takes time and requires many resources. Modeling and simulation speeds up the development process, and multiphysics simulation in particular ensures accurate results that match real-world results. Virtual prototypes and optimization can inform design choices early on in the development process while not compromising sound quality. The COMSOL Multiphysics® software provides a comprehensive simulation platform for modeling all aspects of loudspeaker design, from motor development to beamforming analysis and the integration of speaker setups within room acoustics. In this webinar, we will discuss loudspeaker design and offer a live demonstration of setting up a complete electro-vibroacoustics model in COMSOL® using built-in multiphysics couplings. We will connect a lumped speaker representation to a finite element model for system-level analysis. Additionally, we will explore the combination of multiple numerical methods for multiscale simulation and showcase the optimization capabilities that drive innovation in developing unconventional materials, geometries, and topologies for superior performance.
