The Electric Discharge Module, a newly released add-on to the COMSOL Multiphysics® software platform, is useful for understanding, analyzing, and predicting the behavior of various electric discharges in gases, liquids, and solid dielectrics. This includes the analysis of streamer, corona, dielectric barrier, and arc discharges. Applications of the Electric Discharge Module range from consumer electronics to high-voltage power system components.

Being able to simulate lightning-induced electromagnetic pulses, electrostatic discharges, and other related events is beneficial for product development, as it helps engineers understand underlying processes and come up with innovative solutions as well as to reduce costs associated with experimental testing and prototyping. The Electric Discharge Module is compatible with the other COMSOL products, including those for electromagnetics, structural mechanics, and fluid dynamics, which makes it possible to explore the multiphysics effects often associated with electric discharges.

Join us for this webinar to get an introduction to the new electric discharge modeling and simulation capabilities of the Electric Discharge Module. The presentation includes a demonstration of how to set up and solve a model.
