Optimization in RF and Wave Optics
High-frequency electromagnetics applications — such as filters and couplers — are characterized by vast design spaces with many local minima, which can make the design process costly if it is based on experiments together with trial and error. Gradient-based optimization can circumvent these challenges, because the generated gradient can efficiently guide the design toward optimal solutions so that most of the design space can remain unexplored.
Attend this live webinar to see how the COMSOL Multiphysics® software can be used to optimize high-frequency electromagnetics models. We will cover the different methods for dealing with conflicting objectives and demonstrate the built-in functionality for setting up application-specific objectives. Shape optimization and gradient-based optimization will be the focus of the presentation, but we will also review the efficient global optimization (EGO) algorithm.
