Strange asymetric capture on permanent magnets

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I have a 3D model with permanent magnet (in shape of a cube) which captures magnetic particles on to it. However, the particles seem to get attracted to a random point on one of the edges of the magnet . Is there any reason why symmetry is lost?

I tried varying the spatial and time discretization and parameter values but found that eventually the particles got accumulated in an asymmetrical manner.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Hi

Depending on the mesh resolution you might have some field concentration effects along sharp edges or vertexes, that I believe could influence the flow of your particles.

Chck carefully the field pattern and use a linear mesh resolution not, a smoothened view, this might give you a clue

Good luck
