Exporting a regular data grid from a surface

Hi everyone,

I have a surface data set that has a vertical deformation defined by the expression 'w'. When I plot 'w' on this surface I can see the deformation without a problem. However, I would like to be able to export the data as a grid with coordinates of my choosing. I have been at this for a while with no real luck; I've been exporting the data with the data set selected as the surface and then I choose 'Points to Evaluate in' > Grid and then use the 'step' entry method for my x and y values. I can't seem to figure out what these x and y values are in reference to because no matter how large of a range that I choose for them, I get a consistent NaN value for 'w' in the exported file. I even chose a wide range from negative to positive and a small step size for both x and y but I'm still getting NaN for every single point for 'w'.

I would greatly appreciate any help on figuring out how to extract the displacement data from this particular surface that I am sure has a displacement. Please let me know if you need more information or sample files. Thanks.

Nick
