Dear colleagues: I have a question: I use coefficient form PDE in comsol . Can these coefficients (eg: Alpha ,beta, gama )be functions of u?

Hi,

Yes, in COMSOL Multiphysics, it is always possible to use coefficients that are functions of the dependent variables (such as u in a Coefficient Form PDE) and their space and time derivatives (when applicable). That said, such functions can make the PDE highly nonlinear and therefore harder to solve.

Best regards, Magnus Ringh, COMSOL

Absolutely, yes you can. Just only pay attention the way that you type such coefficients since must depend on the field variable "u". For instance y(u) or z(u) . By the way, an open question Can Comsol update the values of such variables based on the calculation results of the previous step???
