Convergence problem

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

My model has a simple geometry consisting of two inlets and a main channel. From one inlet pure water and from the other inlet water with a certain concentration of CaCl2 are entering the main channel. In the main channel the viscosity and density depend on the concentration of CaCl2 (the concentration is changing due to diffusion). I know the dependency so I entered the appropriate equations for viscosity and density as a function of concentration. The convective term of the mass transfer equation is also dependent on the flow field. So I need to solve these systems simultaneously but the solution does not converge. My mesh is relatively fine and I have tried all the direct and iterative solvers. The progress of solution sometimes goes up to 49% and then reduces to zero.

This is the first time that I am solving two coupled equation systems with COMSOL and I do not know what I should change to get the solution to converge.

I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Shahrzad
