Piezo's Electric Field at Fixed-Free Interface

I am modeling a rectangular (2D) piezo. The left half of the rectangle is fixed, and the right half of the rectangle is free (essentially a cantilever beam, showing the fixed half as well as the free half). The right edge of the rectangle has a force going in the positive y direction.
When I look at the line cross-plot of the x-direction electric field along the cantilever, there is a very prominent jump at the fixed-free interface, no matter how fine my mesh gets.
How can I resolve this problem?
Thanks,
Michael
