Thicken non-closed mesh

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

Im trying to import the geomtry of a gyroide into comsol. For this purpos I generate the surface of the gyrode with 'MathMod' and export it as an .stl file with the help of 'meshLab'.

I'm able to import the mesh in to comsol but only when I deselect 'Form solids from suface objects', otherwise I reiceve the warning 'Failed to form solid object'. This makes sence since it's an open mesh.

When I try to thicken this imported mesh I receive the following error: 'Operation not supported on virtual geometry'.

How to thicken a non-close mesh (that is thus not a solid)?
