Discretization of COMSOL 4.1

Hello everyone,

In order to know how the discretization method affects the results, I use Solid mechnics module to deal with the linear elastic material during a specific thermal cycle. In this model I chose to use linear and quadratic discretization methods respectively to get the displacement and von mises stress with the same sandwich geometry. First, I did the mesh convergence tests for the model with linear element shape and the one with qudaratic element shape respectively, then compared both models' results with each other. I found that at the chosen point the displacement has a good agreement between these two methods, but the results of von mises stress has a big difference . This makes me confused. Could you me some explanations?
The attachment is the summary of results.
Thank you very much.

John
