Hi,
I am new to comsol and I want to model a vertical Fiber Optic distributed temperature sensing (DTS) cable in soil layers, and then use the heat transfer module to get the temperature in different soil layers. I have started the modeling by simulating the DTS cable using a cylinder geometry. As you can imagine, the radius of the cable is very small (0.125 mm) as expected and the length is about 10 m. My question is: Is this the proper way to do this small scale modeling in comsol? Also, I don't have any electricity in my cable, a laser sends a pulse of light into the fiber to measure the temperature along the cable based on the difference in intensity of different scattered light in the cable.
