A question about not being able to converge

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Dear all,

Attached is a COMSOL 5.3 model about making a nanogap between two gold electrodes on PDMS substrate, and stretch the PDMS substrate to see how nanogap distance changes accordingly.

It works for the applied strain ~ 2%, the nanogap distance is still 80% of the initial gap, which is 5 nm (as shown in the attached image), but with just a little bit higher strain such as 3 or 4%, it doesn't converge anymore no matter how I change the configuration.

Would like to ask for your kind advices to figure out why it doesn't converge at the certain point and/or what I can do to try to make it converged.

Thank you very much : )

Best Regards, Henry
