Acoustoelastic effect [ultrasonic wave propagation]

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I am using COMSOL 5.5.

I would like to know if (Physics: Elastic Waves, Time Explicit ) is able to simulate the acoustoelastic effect "change in the aoustic wave velocity due to stress" of an ultrasonic wave propagating in (Material: Structural Steel).

If not, I was thinking to use (Physics: Solid Mechanics) with Hyperelastic material> Murnaghan Model . Then, creating two steps simulation:

Step1: stationary, in which a static load is applied on the structure. Step2: Time-Dependent, in which a transducer sends an ultrasonic wave.

The solution of Step1 is used as initial state for Step2.

would this work ?

Thank you.
