How can I find out from the command line (i.e. outside the gui) in linux which modules are available in comsol? Thanks in advance.

There is no built in way to do this.

You can either

Use the COMSOL API. There is a method ModelUtil.hasProduct that can look for available modules.

or you can look in the comsolsetup.ini file that is written when installing COMSOL Multiphysics.
