SUPG stabilisation for general PDE

Myself and some colleagues have been developing an elastohydrodynamic contact model.
We have used the weak form of the general PDE (the PDE we solve is called the Reynolds' equation) and the expression for the deformed oil film thickness has been calculated using an integration coupling constant. We also use an integration coupling constant to calculate the integral of the pressure over the contact, and solve for this integrated pressure being equal to the applied load.
It all works OK, but at high loads, there are oscillations in the pressure curve, which need stabilising out. We have tried adding some isotropic diffusion but I would really like to add SUPG stabilisation.
I notice that these can be implemented using the GUI for fluid flow models - has anyone had any success implementing SUPG using the general PDE's ?
Thanks for any help
