RF module "user defined " port for TE mode light in 3D structures

Hi, everyone.
Since we know we can use a 2D cross-section of waveguide to fine the effective refractive index. Incident light at the designed port can be difined as "Rectangle" with TE/TM mode.
Here I want to do the simulation in 3D model. The type of port is "numeric" while there is no definition for the mode.
I tried to use "user defined " port.
However, if I want to use a 1W TE-polarized incidental light, what should I define on INPUT QUANTITY(like the initial value of electric fields and propogation constant?)
Thanks so much.
