discontinuous lagrange (DG) solving convection equation

To solve a convection PDE ut+a*ux=0, regular FE work. When it comes to DG, the solution is wrong inputting the same terms in the PDE box as used in regular FE under a periodic boundary condition. Anyone knows why?
