What considerations to be made to simulate ferrofluid - water interaction?

My system involves ferrofluid kept in a partly open container, which is kept in an ocean, which means multiphase flow. I know ocean will be turbulent, but what about the ferrofluid? Should it be based on polymer flow (since that was given in the comsol video of non-newtonian fluid)? What about its magnetic properties? Also, can we really not add fluid-structure interaction with turbulent flow?
