Heat transfer in porous medium

Hi everyone When I use the local thermal nonequilibrium heat transfer model in a porous medium, an average diameter of spherical pellets must be used. Can anyone show me the meaning of a spherical pellets: Does the average diameter of the spherical pellets represent the pore diameter or not? With best regards
