Help in COMSOL (LED)

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

New to COMSOL here. I am trying to simulate the extraction efficiency of different LED casings (the encapsulation) in COMSOL.
Currently I have tried three different geometries: cone, pyramid, and a elongated dome.
I have surrounded each casing with a cube made of air, and am running a frequency domain simulation,
with an electric dipole point source (moment oriented in only one of x,y, or z) at the base of the casing.
I am currently extracting the output power through the five faces of the cube that we care about, and trying to compare the results.
Is this a good way to measure the efficiency and how much power is reflected/transmitted through the casing?
Also does it make sense to model the LED as an electric dipole point source?

Thanks,
Aditya Arun
