Multiple user in Linux?

Hi,

since some time I use Comsol on a Linux machine. Because of some former trouble I changed the directory used for temporary files to my home directory (followwing the advice given in solution number 1083). Recently another user got an account on the machine, but he was not able to start Comsol. I gave him full access to reading, writing and executing in the directory used for the temporary files. However the following error message appears when he tries to start COMSOL:

"Locking is not possible in the directory "/home/sabine/Comsol43/comsol43data/configuration/comsol/org.eclipse.osgi". A common reason is that the file system or Runtime Environment does not support file locking for that location. Please choose a different location, or disable file locking passing "-Dosgi.locking=none" as a VM argument.
Permission denied"

Does anyone know what to do?

Thanks a lot

Sabine

The COMSOL startup script includes a switch to set the temporary directory. Could both you and the other user set this switch at run time to avoid the conflict ? See the output from "comsol -help" to see the syntax for the temporary directory switch.
