Comsol does not use all RAM available

Dear all,

running Comsol on my laptop, I see that it uses only 4-5 Gb of the available 16Gb RAM, and in fact it takes a very long time for simulation of time-dependent 3D problems. I don't have any other process running in the meanwhile.
I made sure to use the 64-bit version as well, but nothing change, again the available RAM is not fully exploited...

Thank you for any suggestion

Regards

Are you using windows ? If so, pop-up the task manager, and see what else may be using your memory. Also, see if your virtual memory is active and how much disk space is available for the virtual memory. You could adjust these so that the non-COMSOL applications can swap out to the virtual memory and give COMSOL more real RAM. My guess is that the OS is the culprit, and not COMSOL.

Couldn't it simply be that the model doesn't need more RAM? Is the RAM usage increasing when you choose a finer mesh?
