Animating the principal strain components on a membrane

I am trying to animate the surface plot of principal strain components for a circular membrane, as the oscillation phase varies. However, I get a message saying that there was an error evaluating the principal component for any value of the phase other than 0.

Aren't the principal strain components defined for all phases? After all, I can plot all the regular strain components at any phase...
