How can I bulid a rectangle can change its z-axis position with the time

Hello

I'm trying to do some simulation about the controlled directional solidification , however I can't bulit a model with the time history.
So I need some help in the field about the deformed of a geometry , such as a rectangle can change its position on the z-axis with the time .
I have tried the deformed geometry and moving mesh ,but the boundary is always not applicable.

What physics should I use to get this result?
Any ideas?

Thanks!
