Problem/bug with 2D axisymmetric Maxwell material results?

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi all,

I am running a 2D axisymmetric viscoelastic material model and I am calculating displacements, stresses etc.

The solution at time equals zero is as expected and I have checked this against other codes.

But after the first timestep I get a large jump in displacements, and also the response I get looks too fast.

I am not sure if it a bug in the code, or if I am using the wrong type of integrator.

The results change if I use ''include non-linear geometry''' and also seem timestep-dependent.

Note that I ran a very similar model in 2D plane strain and I got very good results, so I am suspecting there is something either with axisymmetric or the way I set up the model. I could send you a test file to check yourselves.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I have tried everything I can think of and still the results look very strange!

Thanks,

George
