Eigenvalue in constraints

I need to solve a PDE eigenvalue problem in which the eigenvalue appears in the boundary conditions (constraints). I am aware that the documentation states that "the eigenvalue itself is not supported in constraints", but I am wondering if there is a way around that. Thanks!
