Question about splitting a geometry and adding liquid

I've been looking for a way to split a vertically positioned elyptical figure into two and add water (liquid) on the bottom part. Which geometry function is used for splitting and which physics should I add to the model? I was thinking of Chemical species transport or fluid flow, but since there are a lot of sub-options, I wasn't sure which one would work. The idea is just to have non-flowing water (static) added on the bottom domains.
Thank you in advance!
Best Regards,
Ivelin
