Acoustic scattering from rigid cylinder

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi everyone

I am trying to model the acoustic scattering off a rigid cylinder.
I have been reading previous examples of this model and have decided to model a rigid body in the following ways:
• High density obstacle
• Large young’s modulus
• Sound hard wall boundary condition – normal velocity at surface needs to be zero
• Fixed constraint boundary condition

I have set up my model to have two application modes:
Plane strain (acpn) and Pressure acoustics (acpr)

Has anyone done this model before and which application modes did you choose?

I get results with the model I am working on now but I am not confident that it is modeling a rigid body.
Reason being when I change some of the settings, the plot of the scattered pressure level remains the same.
The following settings seem to have no effect on the scattered wave amplitude or phase:
• High density / zero density
• Sound hard wall / Normal acceleration

Many many thanks!
Eileen
