non uniform current distribution

Hi,

I'm trying to use the comsol package to extract the magnetic field around a current-carrying wire.

This is a straightforward problem, but the caveat is that the wire is not in a straight line, so applying an external current density is not appropriate. The wire is straight in one section, and then bent at 30 degrees.

Is there a way to set a current source at one end of the wire (with finite cross-section), and then attach a terminal at the other end of the wire? So that comsol can calculate the current distribution within the wire, and therefore the magnetic field? The current passing through the wire is assumed constant.

Sorry if this is a straightforward problem, but I am new to comsol!

Many thanks in advance,
Luke

Hi Luke,

You need "Single-Turn Coil" or "Lumped Element" , check the Help.

Best Regards,
Dima.
