theoretical question for gaussian beams

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

In one of the comsol library model "nanorod", a gaussian beam is set as the background field
The Ex component is given by E(x,y),
and Eyis given by j*d(E(x,y),x)/ewfd.k0
I'm not sure how is Ey is derived, could someone explains a bit?\

Thanks
