Gravity in Fluid Dynamics Simulation

Hi, guys,

I'm building up a 2D model for gas flow in a quartz tube furnace. Things went fine until gravity was introduced. I believe gravity competed with the temperature profile and made the solution did not converge.

I set up a temperature profile for each subdomain to simplify the calculation and use volume force F_y to define the gravity. Just can not figure out a way to make it converged, although it was better when I tried to play with a isothermal setup (where I set the temperature as a constant for the whole furnace).

Appreciate your inputs.

Thanks and regards,
Zhong
