Poroelasticity and fluid pressure

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I have a question about poroelasticity interface in COMSOL. I modeled a reservoir under ground in which fluid is injected. I modeled the injection as mass flux. So I expected that the effective stress decreases by applying mass flux and increasing pore pressure. BUT, since all the initial stresses are compression and they have negative sign the stresses are added to the pore pressure instead of subtraction (effective stress= -stress-porepressure). So it help the stability of my model which is not true. Do you have any idea what should I do with this problem?

Thank you,
