Heat transfer in solids: Input parameters

Hi to all,

I am simulating the heat conduction in solids in the steady state condition (with Comsol 4.3)

In this case the equation implemented is the one that I attached.

My question is:
why in this condition does COMSOL ask as input parameter also the spaecific heat Cp and the density of the materials?
I would not need them to solve the equation.

it's true that COMSOL often ask for slightly more material data that what one could expect, when one is performing stationary solver models. But at the moment you introduce a time solver the density and the heat capacity are mandatory, and that is why, COMSOL is considerening the full t,x,y,z equation of heat transfer for the material data demand, and not your limited stationary case with t=0

You can try with 1,1 as input or true data you should see no difference, in stationary, try it out :)
