Considering residual strains

Hello,

I'm currently working on a hyperelastic model where the strain energy density function considers residual strains. In order to solve my problem, I need to be able to compare the value of the first invariant computed at a given iteration to the a given first invariant and have the program remember only the maximum value, as such:

I1max = max(solid.I1, I1max)

Unfortunately, i get an error saying: Circular variable dependency detected.

Does anyone have an idea of how i can solve this problem?
