Impeller simulation with fluid-structure interaction and deformed mesh

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello Everybody,

i try to simulate different impeller geometrys and analyse the different resulting fluid velocities.
Therefor i started based on this comsol blog entry:
www.comsol.com/blogs/deformed-mesh-interfaces-rotations-and-linear-translations/

After that i added a Fluid-structure interaction physic node, but i keep getting the error-message:

"Failed to find consistent initial values.
Segregated Step 1
Undefidned variable.
Variable:comp1.fsi.K stress tensor testXY, Geometry: geom1, Boundaries:3,4,6,7
[..]"

But i don't know what to add or what boundary condition is wrongly applied.

This blog entry:
www.comsol.com/blogs/how-to-improve-your-paddle-stroke-with-simulation/

It shows almost what i want to figure out. But i just need the rotating "paddle"

Could you have a look?

thank you and kind regards
Jan

Hi,

VLC

I have the same problem with you.

Have you found the method to simulate the rotating structure object in fluid with Fluid-Structure interaction in 2D or 3D model?

And your suggestions are highly appreciated!

Best wishes,

Humlyon
